Welcome to the Fall Workshop Series
The Fall Workshop Series is designed to support new students (First-Year and Transfer) as you begin your academic journey at UCI and within the School of Social Ecology. These interactive workshops will introduce you to key academic expectations, planning tools, and registration processes to help you start the year with confidence.
About the Workshop Series
The series includes five workshops, each focused on a critical transition point during your first year at UCI. You may RSVP for one or multiple workshops based on your needs.
Workshop topics include:
- Welcome to UCI and the School of Social Ecology
- Learn how UCI is structured, what to expect academically, and how the School of Social Ecology can support you throughout your undergraduate experience.
- Planning Your Academic Career: First-Year Students
- Designed specifically for first-year students, this workshop focuses on understanding degree requirements, building a balanced academic plan, and developing habits for long-term success.
- Planning Your Academic Career: Transfer Students
- Tailored for transfer students, this session centers on navigating degree requirements efficiently, planning remaining coursework, and maximizing your time at UCI.
- Registering for Winter Quarter
- Learn how to prepare for and navigate Winter Quarter registration, including reading your academic requirements, using the registration system, and avoiding common pitfalls.
- Making the Most of Your Time at UCI
- Explore strategies for getting involved, balancing academics with co-curricular opportunities, and making intentional use of campus resources to support your goals at UCI.
What to Expect
- Workshops will be interactive and practical, with time for questions.
- Sessions are anticipated to be offered in a hybrid format (in-person and Zoom), with details shared closer to each workshop date.
- Content is designed to meet you where you are as a new student.

If you RSVP for a workshop, we ask that you plan to attend. These sessions are intended to provide timely support, and your participation helps ensure the experience is valuable for everyone.
